I want a 335is 6 speed but it has the same n54. I have had quite a bit of trouble with the n54. The n52 or n54 pump fails and can heat damage the head if the car is too hot at the time or is driven even a short distance after the warning.
And on the n52 risk is not entirely clear on the n54 the belt drops off shreds and through an unlikely series of events destroys the engine. However i have an e91 335i that has just cruised passed 136k and it still singing. So approaching a 335i n54 track car required a fresh approach.
